What is the Dawning?
In Destiny 2, the Dawning is basically the game’s version of a winter holiday event. Players start the fun by visiting Eva Levante at the Tower, and Eva offers you a special oven designed for cooking holiday treats. Said treats are governed by the game’s various NPCs. As you’ll see below, for example, Zavala loves eating Gjallardoodles. These are made using Ether Cane, Delicious Explosion and Essence of Dawning. You can learn how to find each of those ingredients by checking out the ingredient list below. By completing activities, collecting certain orbs or killing certain enemies, you accumulate ingredients that form treats to give to each character.
What’s new in 2020?
The basic conceit of the Dawning appears similar to the setup of the last few years, although there will likely be a handful of new recipes and ingredients players will have to discover through gameplay.
A fresh reward for your culinary efforts, though, is the Glacioclasm Legendary Fusion Rifle that features random stat rolls. There’s also a special ship you’ll be able to customize throughout the event as well. The final taste of sweetness is the addition of community goals that unlock rewards for everyone based on how many Dawning treats are made throughout the event’s duration. In short, the 2020 Dawning features many familiar ideas but brings in some newer Destiny 2 concepts like random stat rolls and community goals.
