This makes it unsurprising that despite being only a glimpse of the full game, some gamers spent an extraordinary amount of time with the beta. As is often the case with game betas, though, changes often come to light in the time between completion and the game’s launch. These changes in turn come to manifest themselves as server and user content wipes, and as Bungie has revealed, the Destiny beta is no different.

According to the Bungie Weekly Update, gamers will have to say farewell to the faces - and helmets - that they got so accustomed to looking at over the course of the beta.  So as to soften the blow, Bungie presented gamers with this news in the form of a love letter.

While this is par for the course in most betas, there are still sure to be some moments of silence for the hard-earned gear gamers have lost in this wipe. The game will not be seeing any major changes between now and release, but that doesn’t mean that the game that launches in September will be identical to its July beta counterpart. According to Bungie designer Tyson Green,

Aside from concerns over location sizes and some of the game’s social features, the beta made quite the splash. With the knowledge that they will have to work hard to earn sequels, these tweaks will no doubt help in keeping up with gamers’ high expectations and improving upon features that may not have worked as originally intended.

While early 2015 is quickly becoming the new 2014 thanks to numerous delays, Destiny is still on track to give gamers a reason to keep their new hardware booted up. Its development may have found itself embroiled in small bouts of controversy, but it’s hard to deny the fact that what’s on display looks great, especially in 1080p, and more importantly feels great as well.

Will you be playing the same class in the full game that you played in the beta? What changes would you like to see made in the full game?

Destiny is set to launch on September 9, 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
