Luckily, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Facebook campaign is starting off a little more realistically and asking for only 50,000 Likes to achieve the first of four phases of asset unlocks. Unlike Battlefield 3, which was asking for 1,000,000.
As of today, the page has 17,768 Likes and has one item unlocked so far: Concept art for the Belltower Spec Ops NPC - viewable on the Deus Ex Facebook homepage.
Each unlock possesses a specific icon which describes the next item to be released. However, what the icons mean for certain is still a bit of a mystery.
Eidos Montreal’s Community Manager, Kyle Stallock, comments on utilizing Facebook and why it’s important to the Deus Ex fans.
Good to see that despite their website being hacked, Eidos isn’t holding a huge grudge against the internet - at least none toward the Facebook community. Deus Ex will certainly be seeing a lot more coverage in the coming weeks, leading to its release in August. E3 should provide more information, regarding the game’s actual augmentation and RPG aspects, as combat capability and freedom of choice have been detailed previously.
The Facebook community now has significant control over the release schedule for some of our favorite assets. We have a ton of surprises and unlockables planned, so fans should invite their friends to ‘Like’ the page and start collecting these rewards.”
Add your Like now to the Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the official website or at the Facebook page.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution releases on August 23, 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
