The movie sequel to screenwriter Julian Fellowes’ series, which aired between 2010 and 2015, is set to hit U.K. cinemas Friday, and a week later in the U.S. Reviews for the film suggest that the franchise has lost none of its charm in the transition from small screen to big screen. Downton Abbey—written by Fellowes and directed by Michael Engler—has so far achieved an 81 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, faring better than even some of the summer’s biggest blockbusters (including Disney’s Aladdin and The Lion King....

In today’s Destiny Weekly Update article on the Bungie blog, Community Manager David “DeeJ” Dague provided some details on one aspect of the upcoming patch. Referencing a remark in last week’s weekly update article about how “Not everyone wants to see or hear a game the same way,” DeeJ revealed that the upcoming update will open up audio mix options and colorblind support within Destiny. Thanks to Bungie hosting a recent press event for Destiny, new details and gameplay footage have been hitting all over the net and we’ve been eagerly combing them to find something to get really excited for. The impression from many of those who played it was that the game is strikingly reminiscent of Halo, and some who tried the hands-on cooperative Strike mission admitted that it was a little boring....

Out at the end of the year, ‘The Dark Below’ brings with it a plethora of new missions to be tackled both solo and alone. There’s the huge Crota’s End Raid mission that won’t be for the faint-hearted, several Strike missions for quick rounds of team gameplay and three additional story missions which would soothe complaints that Destiny’s story wasn’t substantial enough. And, it turns out that ‘The Dark Below’ could also solve another fan request....

As the company has said multiple times before, this is easily their most ambitious project to date, and getting to launch requires a monumental effort. Still, while Bungie might be tweaking the finer points of Destiny right up till launch, the main product is seemingly complete. And in celebration of that, we have a launch trailer for the game above....

And although it’s true that the House of Wolves DLC will add new upgrade materials, consumables, and currencies into the mix, it will also render a few others obsolete. More specifically, the next major Destiny update will do away with Vanguard and Crucible Commendations, clearing the way for more space in players’ vaults. For those who might be familiar, Commendations was yet another currency added by Destiny’s Dark Below DLC....

What are the Guardian Games? The Guardian Games is a free event for all players inside Destiny 2. From April 21 through May 11, all three of the game’s main classes compete to see which one reigns supreme. By completing special challenges during the event, you’ll earn Medals that contribute to the total for your class. Come out on top, and your class’ accomplishments will be displayed in the Tower for a full year....

The updated graphics and expansive story of Human Revolution alone would be enough to get fans excited and newcomers interested, but the development team isn’t satisfied with letting the series name carry the project. Our PAX preview of Human Revolution showed that Eidos Montreal is relying heavily on their ‘four-pillar’ approach to gameplay: combat, stealth, hacking and social interactions. To make combat just as feasible a method of success as stealth is a tall order, especially considering that the first reaction of many modern gamers is to shoot first and ask questions later....

While Diablo 3 might be the fastest selling PC game in history, it also holds the dubious honor of being the quickest game to disappoint in history. At the stroke of midnight, millions of gamers tried to log on to the Diablo 3 servers, a necessary step because of the game’s piracy prevention, and were instead met with several error messages, most notably Error 37. Since the game’s launch Blizzard has responded, and delayed the launch of their much-maligned Auction House (where players can sell in-game items for real world currency) but even that was overshadowed by the poor launch....

While some viewers responded positively to the monologue’s content and Burr’s comedy itself, others denounced it as insensitive and inappropriate. “Did Bill Burr really just say that? The Parental Rights in Education bill, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by critics, would prohibit school districts from “encouraging classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.” While courts have typically given great deference to educators in regards to curriculum matters—allowing teachers over lawmakers to decide which pedagogical techniques or subjects are appropriate for the classroom—this particular bill presents a different issue....
